ENGINEERING - STORMWATER

PROJECT:
North Main Street Regional Detention Pond
Anderson, South Carolina

CLIENT:
City of Anderson

SCOPE:

This project consisted of preliminary design, design, bidding, and construction services for an approximately 1-acre stormwater detention pond. The pond was needed due to severe erosion of stream bed and bank caused by urban runoff, which was estimated at 360 cubic feet per second at its peak. The pond was designed to attenuate peak flows, while maintaining a natural low-flow channel through the area. A fore-bay was utilized to help settle out suspended solids. The project included three 60-inch HDPE pond inlet pipes, one 60-inch outlet pipe with 36 inch low flow pipe, concrete overflow structure, and concrete headwalls with integral energy dissipaters. Other site work includes clearing and grading, chain-link fencing, erosion control and site stabilization.
