The Blue Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America owns and operates a resident summer camp in upper Greenville County. The camp, known as Camp Old Indian, has been operated by the Council well in excess of 50 years. With increased focus on environmental regulations and with the flush toilet facilities the accepted norm in our modern society, the council desires to address various issues regarding wastewater disposal and potable water improvements at Camp Old Indian.
This project included a Preliminary Engineering Report, field survey, design, bidding and construction administration for improvements to the potable water storage and distribution network for 22 campsites including new bath-houses and the installation of a wastewater collection system, master pump station and master septic tank system with remote leach field. The potable water portion of the project consists of upgrades to two (2) existing 12,000 gallon above-ground water storage tanks, upgrade to the existing booster pump and installation of approximately 11,845 linear feet of new HDPE waterline, including related appurtenances and campsite connections. The wastewater portion of the project consists of 10,000 feet of low pressure HDPE forcemain piping from the campsites, a master wastewater pump station, 2,500 linear feet of 4-inch DIP forcemain and a master septic field with 10,698 feet of double stone drain line. Individual bath-house construction is on-going pending available funds.
