The Lexington County Joint Municipal Water and Sewer Commission has strengthened its water system in its western and southwestern areas. Installation is complete of 45,900 feet of 24-inch water line, 9,300 feet of 12-inch water line, a two million gallon storage tank and a 2,600 gallon per minute duplex booster pump station. The project also included installation of related valves, hydrants, site work, power, and controls.
The 24-inch line runs along Calks Ferry Road beginning near Two Notch Road to the vicinity of Sherwood Drive. The ground storage tank and booster pump station is installed at this location. The 24-inch line continues along Calks Ferry Road from the booster pump station to the intersection of Pond Branch Road, where it turns east along Pond Branch Road and continues to the junction with Platt Springs Road, ultimately connecting with the existing 12-inch line at the Platt Springs Road elevated storage tank. In addition, a 12-inch line runs along Nazareth Road from Calks Ferry Road to the vicinity of Maplewood Drive, where it connects with an existing 12-inch line. |
