Transmission Improvements - Anderson, SC
Project:
Water System Transmission Main Improvements
Client:
City of Anderson
Anderson, South Carolina
Scope:
After completing the Water System Business Plan for the City of Anderson, Design South was retained to complete a comprehensive water system master plan. The master planning effort included the evaluation of the existing distribution, storage, pumping, and transmission system.
To improve the overall system hydraulics, balance system storage availability, and improve fire flows in a number of areas, 35,000 feet of 12-inch DIP transmission mains were constructed in the City. Most of this project was constructed along arterial streets with 6,700 feet on N. Main Street/Clemson Boulevard. This street is 5-7 lanes wide through the busiest commercial district in the City, where roughly ½ of the pipe was installed in the center turn lane and the remainder was installed in the outer most south bound lane. Nearly all the pipe for this project was constructed in paved roadways through very congested areas of the City.
